A quick preview of our afternoon!
A beautiful sunny afternoon.. and I met a lovely chocolate lab called Barney for his photoshoot which was a surprise for his owner. One way to describe Barney.. Optimistic.
He is full of energy. And LOVES sticks. What dog doesn't? If he wasn't carrying a stick around (especially one that was far too heavy for him to carry - but he was VERY proud of it), he was darting around, exploring the woods at the speed of light.
As it was all super exciting.. the main skills needed in this situation are PATIENCE and TIME. As with all animals, they have a mind of their own. They get excited, they get nervous and timid. Each is individual, as I'm sure you all know.
So after a good 15 minutes of excitement and sticks, we knuckled down to business!
We started off with a few running shots - while he still had energy but had slowed down slightly! Although it was quite late in the year, it was a very autumnal scene with orange everywhere and streaks of light through the bare leaved trees.
Of course some sticks had to accompany him too...
Next we moved onto a slightly more green and grassy area - like they say, variety is the spice of life! By this time, Barney was a little bit more worn out and a tiny bit more amenable. The greens, oranges and yellows provided a lovely background behind him, without being too overpowering. At the end of the shoot, a 20 x 30" canvas was bought of the close up head shot for Barney's owner, and the colours really made it pop!
Overall - fun was had by all, Barney had a GREAT time and his owner got a beautiful canvas and photobook from it for everlasting memories of his best friend!
